No trip to Bali is complete without gazing upon the breathtaking silhouette of Kelingking Beach. Perched 400 meters above the roaring Indian Ocean, the soaring limestone headland unmistakably resembles the profile of an ancient Tyrannosaurus Rex drinking from the sea.
The contrast between the sheer emerald-covered cliffs, the powdery crescent white sand beach below, and the vibrant gradients of sapphire and turquoise water is simply staggering. Manta rays can frequently be seen from the cliff edge, appearing as dark diamond silhouettes gliding through the crystal breakers.
For adventurous hikers, a steep bamboo-railed stairway cuts down the rocky dinosaur ridge to the secluded beach below. The climb down takes about 45 minutes of intense exertion and should only be tackled with proper footwear, plenty of water, and extreme caution.
Traveler Advice: Even if you choose not to hike all the way down, the panoramic views from the top ridge are more than worth the trip. Wear sun protection, bring plenty of water, and ensure your camera has plenty of battery power!
